name:adaptability
description:Drop into an unfamiliar problem, domain, or codebase and get useful quickly. Use when the work is ambiguous, changing, or crosses into a new field.

Adaptability

Forward-deployed work means the domain keeps changing under you: veterinary invoices one week, pharmaceutical analytics the next. Get up to speed fast and be useful before you know everything.

Approach

  • Learn by building. Get oriented by making something small and real, not by reading forever.
  • Abstract first. Understand the end-to-end shape of a problem before diving into the details. That is what makes moving between domains cheap.
  • Sit with ambiguity. Non-deterministic systems and half-defined problems are where the interesting work is. Do not wait for a perfect spec to start.

Defaults

  • You do not need to be the domain expert to be useful. Learn fast and ask the right people.
  • Adaptable beats narrowly optimal when the ground keeps moving.
